Bharath’s Chief Servant’s Report to Ram Lalla - Just as Bharatha’s Report to Sri Rama in Ramayana

Bharath’s Chief Servant’s Report to Ram Lalla

Just as Bharatha’s Report to Sri Rama in Ramayana

Dr. Sukumar Canada

"I am returning the kingdom entrusted to me during your absence, a duty I embraced with utmost devotion. My life has found purpose in serving you, and my aspirations have been fulfilled. The treasury now overflows with wealth, having multiplied tenfold from its initial state. The military strength has also surged, with a tenfold increase in elephants, horses, chariots, and soldiers. Under your benevolent grace, I have faithfully managed the affairs of the kingdom thus far. Now, you must resume your rightful reign and safeguard us; there is no alternative for us." (Bharatha's 14-year report to Sri Rama – Yudhakandam)

Bharatha articulates his unwavering loyalty and diligent stewardship of the nation in Sri Rama's stead. He asserts that his life has mirrored that of a devoted ascetic, emphasizing the fulfillment of his duty to the best of his abilities. The treasury has prospered, increasing tenfold, and the military strength has expanded significantly. Therefore, Bharatha implores Sri Rama to reclaim the throne of Ayodhya. Sri Rama, in compliance, ascends the throne.

Reflecting on this episode from the Ramayana as we celebrate the Pranaprathishta Mahotsav of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, it draws parallels with the leadership of Prime Minister Modiji. In ten years, just as Bharatha nurtured the kingdom, Modi has steered the country to prosperity. How would the chief servant of the nation submit a report to Ram Lalla? It might read:

"Lord, as per your instructions a decade ago, I have earnestly endeavored to govern your kingdom. Over the past ten years, we have achieved financial and strategic advancements, yet we recognize the need to further elevate your glory through the well-being of all citizens.

"O Sri Rama, recalling Bharatha's comprehensive report in the Ramayana upon your triumphant return from Lanka to Ayodhya, we acknowledge our human limitations. Still, please receive my report and guide us forward. Our tireless efforts to elevate your kingdom’s financial position from the tenth to a potential third globally in a decade, our steadfast international relations strategy, protection of borders and citizens through diplomatic and military measures, contribution as the world's medical store with affordable health solutions, compassionate distribution of vaccines globally, irrespective of financial status, unmasking developed countries' hypocrisy, promotion of Vedic wisdom globally, internationalizing yoga for universal well-being, successful hosting of large-scale events like G20, poverty eradication, advancements in education, hygiene, construction of millions of homes and extensive road networks – all bear testimony to your compassion. May we humbly submit these activities at your lotus feet for your kind glance.

"In Bhagavatam, King Prithu imparted messages of hope, joy, and wisdom to his subjects. I follow in his footsteps, conveying my observations and aspirations to the people, in a monthly message, guided by your divine will. If the Janata-Janardans want our service, we willingly embrace the opportunity to glorify you through them. May our minds and bodies be dedicated to your service through the Janata Janardans.

"In the Bhagavad Gita, you taught the power of Saha Yajna – teamwork. The 'Samgachatvam' Shanti Mantra teaches that prosperity arises through unity. May we possess the ability, courage, and wisdom to pursue your work. Though my report may not match the succinctness of Bharatha's, please accept it, and direct us on the way forward.

“sangacchadhvam sam vadadhvam

sam vo manamsi janatam

deva bhagam yatha purve

sanjanana upasate”

May we unite! May our minds synchronize, leading us to prosperity. Let us share the outcomes of our joint endeavors justly, as the Gods do. Recognizing that serving the people is tantamount to serving you, as Janatha and Janardan are one. Ram Lalla, we do not seek prosperity solely for our country, but we pray that the whole world be prosperous under your guidance.

Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu – May the entire world be happy and prosperous."
