I was watching Manjul Bhargav's interview and I thought how come we never got that opportunity to learn science, maths and literature in an integrated manner. He was demonstrating how his grandfather used to give him exercises to fill in blanks in poems with meters and he would challenge him to come up with as many possible words with meaning and 'mathras'. Now the child is a math prodigy and great Tabla player! He is using the similar technique in his classes in Princeton and the students love it! I have always felt a vacuum in our education that we missed something. perhaps this was it...Sukumarcanadahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17652368946447617007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5012334771395545139.post-1563677773451380112015-03-07T23:50:57.886-08:002015-03-07T23:50:57.886-08:00The point that Dr Sukumar brings out in his well w...The point that Dr Sukumar brings out in his well written blog is really good. Scientific exploration starts with some kind of dreams or imaginative ideas and then trying to explore and see whether it can put into practice. Unfortunately, most of our traditional knowledge was in Sansrit and this language and the embedded knowledge were denied to the majority of the people who were real seekers of knowledge. The monopoly of this knowledge by a section of the people resulted in Sanskrit becoming a dead language. It is high time that some one who knows the language and are unbiased brings out the truth available in these books or scriptures. The so called pseudo-scientists will always ridicule such attempts. The most important requirement for a scientist is to be unbiased and free in his thoughts. They will see only the ideas, not the person who expresses these ideas. It is sad that these days very few bothers about what is being discussed, they bother only about who says !!!Prof.Mohandas K Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00454838965856652015noreply@blogger.com
